In February we enjoyed the spectacular snowy Moncayo, this year the snow has been late in arriving, but the Iberian colossus already looks in all its splendor. This photo is taken from our gardens, in which we are currently working. Last year and the year before we did the first planting of trees and soon we will do the next and last one.
In the picture you can see that the line of cypress trees facing north has already taken shape and exceeds three meters in height. The garden will be a luxury complement to enjoy the stays in the castle, we hope you like it.
After a year of operation, we are happy to inform you that we are going to have many new features in the castle. Soon we will inaugurate the subway cellar, the giant chess and the palace gardens. And before all this, we will incorporate to our website a booking engine with an occupancy calendar and a channel manager that will connect us with the best tourist booking websites. All this has been possible thanks to the success of these first months of work and your confidence in us.
In the future there are new plans, collaborations and services, but it is still early. We hope that these improvements will make the whole process of booking at Castillo de Bulbuente more comfortable for you.
This weekend we definitely recommend you to come to the castle to attend the feast ofSanta Brigida in our neighbors of Vera del Moncayo (5 minutes by car), who have prepared a whole day of twinning with Ireland.
The patron saint of Vera de Moncayo, Santa Brigida, which takes place this weekend, is also the patron saint of Ireland. Throughout the day, local and Irish artists will offer performances for all audiences. On this occasion, the town council has organized various cultural events with local and Irish artists that will take place in different areas of the municipality throughout the day.
The program
The day will begin at 7.00 with the traditional aurora in honor of St. Brigida by the association Vera & Veruela in which participants will receive an explanation about the origin of this symbol and will continue at 10.00 with a workshop on crosses. After mass, there will be a musical and dance performance with the Irish artist Louise O Connor and the music group Na Cauce after which a vermouth has been organized.
In the afternoon, and after the wink championship, at 17.00 will be held in the church a special event that will combine the reading of Irish poems with musical performances by various local and Irish artists. The event will be presented by journalist Eva Pérez Sorribes.
At 19.00 the traditional bonfire will be lit, after which a dinner with Irish products can be enjoyed in the municipal pavilion to start the Vera Brigid Fest, after which there will be musical performances by Louise O Connor, the traditional music group Na Cauci and the pop artist with Irish roots Leslie Dowdall.
The aim is that this cultural meeting will serve to twin local artists with Irish artists and that both neighbors and visitors can enjoy an important part of that rich and broad culture.
Great news for the castle of Bulbuente, the recovery works of its historic cellar are about to be completed. It will become an emblematic space that we are sure will surprise our guests.
When we acquired the castle, the only evidence of the existence of a cellar was an opening in the second terrace of the garden, completely filled with rubble. Several attempts were made to free this possible access, but the work was unsuccessful and the idea was abandoned. By chance, a secondary access was opened on the upper terrace during some routine work and we were able to access, although in complex conditions, and verify that the cellar not only existed, but also that it was of ample dimensions and in acceptable condition.
Then began the most difficult part, freeing the access pipe, seven meters long and condemned decades ago. This was a difficult task, especially when it came to consolidating the walls and ceiling of the tunnel, which descends steeply and steeply. It was necessary to create an entire reinforced structure for this purpose.
We have been able to confirm that it is a historic winery of enormous importance for being not only the oldest in the locality, but possibly the first subway winery in the entire Campo de Borja D.O.. We are talking about a space for the production of wine that is several centuries old.
In an area as important as the Campo de Borja wine region, we are very excited to participate in this legacy with the recovery of our subway cellar.
Then the staircase has been restored and the walls and ceilings of the main room have been consolidated. Now all that remains is cleaning, electricity and soon you will be able to see it.
The restoration works of one of its most outstanding elements have been completed: the access tower to the fortress.
A historic and legendary enclave, the castle of Trasmoz, has reopened its doors to the public after the completion of the restoration works of one of its most outstanding elements: the access tower to the fortress.
To carry out the restoration, the Government of Aragon has invested a total of 50,000 euros in an action framed in the conservation and restoration program promoted by the Department of Education and Culture.
Aragón Televisión has made a report on the castles and palaces in the lands of Moncayo and Borja that belong to private owners, and how their conversion into hotels gives them an outlet because the maintenance of this heritage requires millionaire investments.
