Grisel
We cannot be objective with Grisel, but we assure you that it is one of the obligatory visits if you are in Moncayo.
There we opened in 2014 our first charming accommodation, the Castle of Grisel, after 30 years of recovery work, quite an odyssey!
But Grisel is much more than the castle, located at an altitude of 625 meters, at the foot of the mountain of La Diezma, has a natural place of important tourist attraction: the Pozo de los Aines.
A limestone chasm of more than 15 meters in diameter with its walls covered with lush vegetation produced by the effect of groundwater whose legendary origin dates back to the sixteenth century.
The climate in Grisel is more benevolent than that of the nearby towns in the Ebro valley as it is not affected by the cierzo wind and the fog is not as abundant as in the towns closer to the river.
To the south of Grisel is the mountain of La Diezma, with a fantastic viewpoint from which you can see spectacular views of the whole region and, especially, of the Moncayo. In diverse points of the mount there are some singular constructions: the Casillas de Pico, constructions in dry stone of great patrimonial value. One of them has recently been restored and is accessible from the viewpoint of La Diezma.
