Bulbuente Castle
Honey
Honey is one of the star products of Moncayo due to the richness of plants and trees in our area, highlighting the honey of flowers, forest and, above all, oak. David and Laura are two young entrepreneurs who are dedicated to producing this rich natural product, carefully taking care of the whole process in an artisanal way in their honey factory in Bulbuente.
Flor de Moncayo honey is produced in the mountains near the Moncayo Natural Park, a privileged environment for bees where a varied flora is developed, allowing the production of several types of honeys throughout the year.
In spring, they obtain rosemary and thyme honey in the lower areas ranging from 500 m to 700 m altitude, and in summer and autumn, holm oak honey around 700-900 m and the most intense forest, heather and oak honeys around 1000 m. A journey through the heart of our territory!
The entire process of obtaining the honey is handmade, respecting the quality of the product so that the honey reaches the consumer just as it comes out of the hives, with all its aroma and flavor.
Oil
Our Denomination of Origin “Aceite Sierra del Moncayo” includes the regions of Tarazona and Moncayo and Campo de Borja, with a total of 34 municipalities. Its protected oil is of Extra Virgin quality and is composed of the following varieties: Empeltre, Arbequina, Negral, Verdial and Royal. The empeltre variety accounts for a minimum of 70%, the arbequina variety with a maximum of 25% and the minority varieties with a maximum of 5% make up an exclusive and unique blend in this region.
It presents a singular sensory complexity due to its multivarietal characters, with the presence of fruity sensory descriptors of green and/or ripe olives and dried fruits. The organoleptic characterization is completed with pleasant perceptions of bitterness and spiciness. The overall result is an oil where harmony becomes one of its hallmarks.
