GOYA in Bulbuente

On April 5 took place the inauguration of a new space in our castle. We are very proud to present “Goya in Bulbuente”, an exhibition space in the tower of the castle dedicated to the work of the great Aragonese artist Francisco de Goya. A permanent exhibition that will be expanded in the near future. Our desire is to turn the Castle of Bulbuente into a reference in the graphic work of the master Goya and in this way Bulbuente and our area will have a new cultural and tourist attraction.

For the inauguration we counted on the performance of the members of “Modern Baroque”, a group of dance and historical music, which enjoys a long trajectory and that, on this occasion, offered a recital focused on the music and dance of Goya’s time. Carlos González Martínez, on the harpsichord, interpreted several compositions by Aragonese composers, such as José de Nebra (born in Calatayud but with Borja ancestry), Joaquín Laseca or Ramón Ferreñac, together with those of other contemporaries of the genius of Fuendetodos, such as Joseph Haydn or Mozart. Inés Turmo Moreno, who, together with Carlos, is the main promoter of the group, led us, through dance, on a musical journey through the Spain of the 18th and early 19th centuries, in which Goya’s life unfolded.

The art historian Mr. Ricardo Centellas Salamero, responsible for cultural management in the Diputación Provincial de Zaragoza and manager of the Goya-Fuendetodos consortium, who has been decisively involved in the organization of the exhibition. Thanks to his help, several of Goya’s series of engravings have been able to reach Bulbuente, along with other works of art that, little by little, are decorating the rooms of this castle-palace.

D. Ricardo Centellas Salamero, spoke at length about the figure of the illustrious Aragonese painter and his work, framing it in his time and providing data of great interest. With respect to the exhibition that was inaugurated, he pointed out that it was a selection of the series of engravings dedicated to the “Tauromaquia”, of which, later, others belonging to more acquired series will be offered.

To see the exhibition, please call us, the schedules will vary from one time of the year to another.
